Warm-Up: Discussion 2:00-2:05

Part I: Complete/Review handout  (20 min) 2:05-2:25
One element that is common to IMRD papers is the idea of dealing with data. In the last class we talked about three things that we need to commonly do with data:

1) Referring to Data
2) Comparing/Contrasting Data
3) Interpreting/making claims on Data

We will cover the parts of the handout that address these three features and then if time permits, we will practice writing basic sentences about sample charts. Access to this activity can be found in CHART ACTIVITY.



Part II: Literature Review Discussion (30 min) 2:25-2:55
Consider the following questions in pairs or small groups:

1.  What is a literature review? What does the term “literature” mean?
2. Why do we write literature reviews? What is their function/purpose?
3. 
   

Now, we will go over the basics to Lit review. Please click on the Literature Review PPT or follow along on the big screen. We will also go into more depth and review the handout that I gave you when we first discussed introductions. Please click on CARS LIT REVIEW WORKSHEET


Part III: Read to Analyze (15 min)  2:55-3:10
We will read a short sample Literature review that is built into a paper to identify the parts as a class.


Part IV: Time Permitting 3:10-3:20
Have students upload documents to SafeAssign
Have students complete forms for Service Course

Homework: Complete Chart Practice in Google Drive Notebooks
